Weird. I have almost 40 of them, have had most for 4 or 5 years, some closer to 10 years, and I've never had one fail. Then again, I use them all on rotation, but they easily sit for months between uses.

That's a known issue with Ryobi, software is programmed in the batteries to shut it off and brick the battery if you don't use it for a long time. Best to try their slow charger to try to revive them.

Wow OP this is an incredible deal.

I mean the 2 6ah HP batteries are normally around this price alone. So you're basically getting the 4ah batteries for free.

I really want the 6ah batteries but am already swimming in 4ah. Must resist....

Prob imbalance triggered a softlock. Its a bit of work to reflash them though as you need to disassemble and get flashing hardware.

Doh, I really want 2x 8Ah, but this price might make me compromise. There's a total of 28Ah in this deal for $200, vs 16Ah for $180 in the 8Ah deal.

The newest product is called 'Edge', and it uses tabless tech to lower internal resistance and increase power output. It runs cooler due to less resistance, so it should live longer than other batteries.

I have over 60 18v ryobi tools and around 15 batteries. Only problems, The original 2amp battery went bad and a light bulb blew.

Probably something like this from ali express. They all come out of China, even the name brands. But check the reviews on the aftermarket ones just like anything else.

I don't disagree for an inflator, but I'd be amazed if any of those batteries had more than 2Ah capacity. The Ali stuff basically is all fraudulent capacity advertising.
