If you're only really interested in NES and SNES (and that era of games) then a more powerful Android-based handheld like this is overkill.

There are lots of great options that are good for those systems that are cheaper and require less set up. Android devices are great but they require more tinkering.

Look at devices like

Anbernic RG Cube XX, RG 35XXSP, 35XX plus, Miyoo Mini Plus, Miyoo Mini flip, R36H, TrimUI Brick, TrimUI Smart Pro, RG 40XXH, RG 40XXV...

Tons of great options for you. All of these run a Linux operating system that just works out of the box with almost no tinkering. Just load your ROM and play (many even have the option of buying them pre-loaded with ROMs).

I bought this last month, the grey color is the right retro move IMO. 4:3 is also the way to go for the older stuff that this will run without issues. Lots of software setup and tweaking required.

I really like the LOOK of this device but personally I went with the 406H for $103.
Exact same internals as this device but with better ergonomics. Not quite as portable/pocketable though so there's pros and cons to each. It's kinda nice that Anbernic offers different devices with slightly different form factors but the same internals. I guess that's been their whole thing since the 35XX line of devices.

I've been looking at this device as an upgrade to my 40XXH. It would be my first Android based emulator. I assume it has Play Store access, but I'm curious to know if it can run Netflix, and other streaming apps.

plenty of power to play all of those, basically flawless emulation up through ps1.

Same here.. the smaller screen (more pocket able) and lower resolution make it easier to drive those later system like PS2 too

it SHOULD be able to run streaming apps but keep in mind that some of these handhelds run older versions of Android and the streaming apps might not work on them (either now or eventually).

This RG476H runs on Android 13 so you should be good to go for a while (Netflix, for example works on Android 5 and up, I think...) but it's up to the discretion of those providers to decide how far back they want to support Android. For now, though, Android 13 should support all of them. At the very least, you'd be able to stream in the browser anyways.

I would say you can safely play up to PS1, no problem. PS2 is hit and miss. You may need to tweak settings to get some to work properly. If PS2 is a must, I'd pass on this.
