There's an upside to this not just from the additional electric Fishman pickup; but because of the price point, quality of a Breedlove guitar, slim easier playing neck, and resale value if the beginner decides s/he doesn't want to continue with playing guitar. Even more value if you're providing it as a gift.

I recently bought a firefly solid top acoustic guitar, I regretted. I told myself I would only buy all-solid guitars from now on.

Wow these are really good prices! Especially the all solid wood (top back and sides) models like the Performers. I suggest pricematching at Musicians Friend since you can get 8% back in MF rewards on top.

I got the Performer Pro a while ago for around the same price at MF. It's a solid players guitar for sure

Honestly any of these would be great beginner guitars. Quality enough to not be hard to play but still budget friendly.

All solid is nice, but like 90% of the sound is generated by the top.

Narrow neck is not necessarily easier--especially for a beginner, I would say. Not as much room for untrained fingers to maneuver. My son (not a beginner) bought a higher-end Breedlove thinking it would be easier to play, like an electric. He changed his mind after having it a while.

I believe the version in question is manufactured as a "thin" neck, so not the same as higher end Breedlove's like you describe.

Then again; who knows? Perhaps this "beginner" has small fingers and it won't matter much either way.
