8640HS is an incredible chip to get at $255 with the best integrated graphics I've ever seen at this price point.

However I'm not seeing any in my area … I'd have to travel 40 miles.

Hmmmm. I got the HP Omnibook walmart deal for 479+ tax and bought HP extended care for 3 years for 100. I am considering returning all that and buying this thing with a 4 year geek squad thing, for 430 total.
Would that be smart? Even thought this only has 8 gb ram / 512 and the walmart deal had 16 / 1TB

I just picked up the "excellent" open box and it was far from excellent. It was clearly a prior display model with chips on the plastic, scratches on the screen, ripped off stickers, etc. what is the return policy on open box items?

My understanding is they're the same chip except the 8640 has an NPU. If you aren't planning on doing AI I'd consider them equal.

It should be returnable until January 15, 2026 or at least that's what BB online support staff told me a few days ago for purchases during holiday season. Apparently their regular holiday extended return policy applies to open box items too but I suggest to verify an extra time just in case. I actually took a screenshot of the convo I had with support as proof in case I need to return something later and they refused.
