That makes absolutely no sense. Cordless tool are a terrible idea? The cordless market in 2024 is $12-14 Billion, expected to rise to $30-32 billion by 2033.

Forget the size of the product market, think of the productivity gains around houses and job sites by not needing to drag around and store extension cords, or dealing with small engine maintenance, gas, oil, etc., etc.

Your problem is defined by your sentiment of not liking "battery maintenance." What maintenance is there?! You charge them up when they're low. If you can't handle that, you probably don't need to be handling tools.

Corded chainsaws are a terrible idea, worse than corded hedge trimmers...

I cut the trees into logs with one of several non-corded saws that I don't care to wear out or replace. I carry the logs to the firewood pile, where I have a 12-ga cord and a sawhorse contraption, and I cut them to stove length with a $50 corded saw that only needs chains and files. No danger of pinching the chain unless I'm incredibly stupid. Works for me.

Why would you pay a price premium for your corded saw to be yellow? Beats me. Also, I believe an 18" bar would be noticeably worse for my application.

I agree with everyone about corded. However, the battery adds weight.
I'm physically disabled, and that weight makes a difference after using it for a couple of hours.

I hope it doesn't really weigh 14.5 lbs. that's almost as heavy as my Echo CS-590 Timberwolf.

I have a small Earthwise corded chainsaw I use for small stuff around my wood piles near the detached garage. Just keep bar oil in it and it goes.

I happen to think cordless tools are a terrible idea. I really hate all the battery maintenance. Cordless tools are pretty much the definition of you will own nothing and be happy.

My tree guy left the logs on the ground, too big to move. I love Dewalt products. I hope this helps me cut logs smaller so I can take them to the dump.

Feel like I havent seen corded deals in a long time. All about batteries these days. My 20V max chain saw is pretty weak though.. think this would've faired better but I imagine this is an easy one to trip breakers with

Firepit wood would be better. I burn for heat.

Pretty sure Charles wasn't referring to cordless tools when he said that. Plus, your corded tools still need electricity to work, so I guess you don't really own that either. Unless you've got a free energy device laying around...

I plan to switch to portable inverter + 150Ah battery (e.g. on a hand truck) for power-hungry tools like chainsaws. Don't have to drag around a 100' extension cord, just grab 25' and wheel the power where I need it. Will only buy smaller battery-powered tools like drills/drivers from now on

I have smoked 2 corded 15A Kobalt eXtreme Rating saws, following the recommended usage duty cycle in the user manual. These corded saws all share similar designs and the cooling is inadequate for a motor this size. I recommend cutting "lighter" than a typical 18" bar saw would be capable of, giving it a break to cool regularly (over 60% of the time), putting a reasonable bar on this (like a 10" or 12") or alternatively using an 8-amp rated saw (most I've used cut well (albeit a bit slower) and can cut indefinitely).

One better. Drill holes and inoculate with mushroom mycelium, if it's hardwood especially. Basically anything but evergreens...
