The older ones are better.

Once I "upgraded" to these Quantum the Bosch dishwasher started clogging and requiring more frequent maintenance cycles than before.

I've never understood why people claim the powder is better. My dishwasher struggled to get my dishes clean as I switched through so many powders & liquids. I finally decided to try pods (Cascade platinum plus) and it actually cleaned my dishes. There was a huge difference for my dishwasher... nothing in prewash or jetdry dispenser. Do some dishwashers maybe do better with certain types?

Do you put the powder inside the detergent dispenser? The dispenser is designed to release the powder at the correct time during the wash cycle, after the initial pre-rinse, so it can effectively clean the dishes.
Maybe there are other issues impacting the wash cycle. Either way I too highly recommend you watch the above specified video to clearly understand what happens inside the dishwasher and how to get a proper clean.
