I just got this a few days ago. It's great. I fixed a door latch issue in literally less than ten seconds with a separate attachment. The second door took closer to ten minutes, but this has already paid for itself.
It's basically the top model (outside of the 8260, which is app enabled), so it may be overkill for many people.
Also the 8150 charges via USB C, which is certainly more convenient than this one.

I'd say, if you have a use or two in mind for this, jump on it. If not, there are slightly cheaper models that would also suit most people.

Back in 2014, I purchased the Dremel 4000-3/34 120-Volt Variable Speed Rotary Tool Kit for DH as a gift. I understand that the Dremel 8250 is more powerful. Would this be a useful gift to update what he has? He's a woodworker and still uses the Dremel 4000

I really only want this model cause I heard the motors on the lower end dremel's will stop and seize up with medium-light pressure. can anyone comment on this?

Ha ha! all my dremel gets used for these days is removing callouses from my wife's feet. It makes giving foot rubs a lot easier so no complaints on my end.

I have both. Dremel 4000 is solid. It does have brushes that need to be replaced if used a lot, like for wood carvers. They are kind of a pain to replace. It's also slightly slimmer than the 8250.
The 8250 is brushless and very powerful. More powerful than the 4000 IMO as it holds RPMs better. Runtime while carving is close to an hour on one battery. It also sounds sooo nice. It's quieter and way less harsh on the ears like those brushed tools are (think corded circular saw vs a quiet cabinet table saw). Overall a great upgrade, esp at this price.
