So 12 Ah is a better deal than what OP shared? I have 2 qty of 4 Ah 18V and 1 qty of 1.8(ish) 18V. I seldomly use power tools but I do use the those batteries for power supply.

12ah has twice the capacity of 6ah and 3 times the capacity of a 4ah.

Keep in mind, more ah capacity equates to extra weight, so size doesn't always equate to better for all jobs.

What you say makes sense. Well for reference, I'm using this

I supposed weight is not an issue.

Something to be aware of with the 12 Ah batteries is they won't fit inside some tools with battery covers, and they prevent you from using the power stations on their side (unless you have all 12 Ah batteries on one side.

A warning, depending on tool you might want to wait for HP Edge to drop in price. I got the table saw and HP battery. It just overheat non stop... Usually like 4 long 2x4 cut at 4 feet length. I would rotate 4,4, and 9 battery. Then cool it down with a fan blowing it. Once empty, it won't charge for like 30 mins due to overheating. My only tool I have ever had issue with ryobi with

Moving to a higher capacity battery will provide more advantage than the Edge technology, and currently that's the cheaper option as well.

So I currently only have lawn tools (blower/edger/mower) that use these 18v stuff.

I find that the 4Ah batteries get pretty hot with the 4Ah HP getting even more hot. I'm scared that running one of these 6Ah would overheat before using all the juice.

Anyone have any experience using the 6Ah on an edger/lawnmower in a hot climate?

Dont let your batteries overheat. The internal electronics tracks all this and will kill the battery. Use a corded tool at all possible.

Both 8 Ah and 12 Ah batteries use 21700 cells. It will give you some improvements over the 6 Ah battery. $125 for the 12 Ah battery is not bad. The lowest that I have seen for the 12 Ah is $150.

Perfect thing to go with the stick vacs I bought as future gifts a few months ago. Now I just need to figure out who I know that actually needs/wants a new vacuum.
