Thanks! I feed these to my dog every couple of weeks. Seems to help with their skin allergies.

Interesting. My dog *loves* tuna but I've never tried sardines. My dog eats almost anything (except vegetables) and might really like sardines. Hmm.

Also, yay FP!

These specifically are incredibly healthy in moderation and raw form for both humans and dogs. They are not fresh water, so consume in moderation like you would tuna or other salt water fish. These are packed in water, not oil or seasoned. Don't cook (why would you?) as that could cause bones to splinter.
Just be aware that they are sprats or herrings marketed as sardines and not actual sardines. I personally don't care, as they all stem from the same family of fish. Foodies or professional chefs might care about this, but at sub-$1 per can, what are you really expecting?

Unfortunately, "Product of Poland" means they're harvested from the extremely polluted Baltic Sea. The fact that they don't say what body of water the fish came from is a clue to the fact that they're not proud of it.

Health statement from the Swedish government advising strictly limiting consumption of fish from the Baltic Sea:

"Children, adolescents and women of childbearing age, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, are advised not to eat fish that may contain high levels of dioxins and PCBs more than two to three times a year. Other consumers should not eat this kind of fish more than once a week.
The recommendation applies to wild-caught salmon, trout and herring from all over the Baltic Sea..."
