The "deal creep" is real. This is a pack of instant rice. On sale for "cyber monday". On a Sunday.

Not that i'm complaining. Thanks OP!

From a price point, no. From a taste, not sure. In for one!

For me, this tastes better and doesn't have that ever so slight stale rice smell I get with the Costco Bibigo.

Bought 2 and they sent me 2 master packs (40 bowls each)! I usually go for the Costco packs but have bought these a few times after seeing all the positive reviews. I don't really find them better or different than the Costco bowls.. they're good, I'll buy them at $1/bowl still, but wouldnt go out of my way to get them over the Costco bowls (a little under $1/each)

the Bibigo ones are also a bit larger (7.4 vs 6.3 oz)

Asian here. This is so expensive. You don't need an expensive rice cookers to make amazing rice. I bought one of those cheap American rice cookers (around $15) as a gift because it came with a steamer; when I tried it myself I was surprised it made rice just fine.(I realized real rice cookers are expensive not bec they make rice taste better, but for features like letting the rice sit for a day).

Amazon sells nishiki rice cheap (my rule is around $1 per pound): most rice in Asian supermarkets cost more (cheaper usually only for massive 50lb bags). Amazon even prices the small 5 lb bag at $7--get subscribe and save and it's around $5!

This is worth $1.68 TOTAL: Divide 63oz. by 3 to get the actual amount of dry rice= this is 21 dry ounces. Amazon sells nishiki rice .08 per ounce (cheaper if you subscribe).

Buying a cheap little rice cooker is so worth it: they take only about 15 minutes to cook. Fresh rice tastes a million times better: I have to yell at my kids to stop eating only rice because it's so yummy when it's fresh. Lastly, I understand the convenience of just microwaving the rice. You'd get that anyway: save the remaining rice from the rice cooker.

I have a rice cooker and have made rice a few times in it but I just can't get a good cook, I love the rice at Chipotle and other restaurants but mine always come out boring AF. Wonder what the restaurants do...

White guy who loves rice here.

The value here isn't just in the finished product or superior quality, it's in the convenience and form factor. I love rice, I have a rice cooker, I have a big bag of rice.. but most non-asian households don't have rice ready-to-go all day long, and typically don't go back for more multiple times per day.

I love rice! But one of these after getting home, or during my lunch break, or in the middle of the night is great. I'm not eating 3-4 a day, but rather ~5 a week. It doesn't make sense to wash and measure the rice, wait for it to cook, and then clean everything afterwards.. I'd rather drop $1 and have rice ready-to-go in 80 seconds whether I'm at work or just at home, and cut out ~20 minutes of time making it.

It's not meant to be a complete substitute/premium version of rice, it's meant to be a quick grab-and-go option with no setup or cleanup, and no waiting. If I'm making dinner involving rice, I'll make a pot of rice in the cooker.. but I rarely ever bring that thing out because of the inconvenience of it all.

I get what Taehyung's wife is saying but this is for pure convenience. One can make a cooker full of rice, divide, freeze, and get cheaper version of this.
What I am confused is how Japan can export rice with domestic price what it is. This must be California rice sold by Japanese firm.
