I think you need to have a quarter-turn ball valve already installed. It won't work with a gate valve.

Huge. I've been looking for ones like this and Moen etc all need a plumber to install with pipe cuts.

So what's pictured is the actual device for sale, installed on top of a pre-existing cutoff valve?

Yes, you only need to remove the arm of the existing valve and this device sits on top of the valve, there is a schematic video on Amazon showing the steps.

The sensors are great and the battery life is excellent, but I'm not sure about that smart valve. I had a similar style fail before because it required too much force to turn the valve. I'm currently using a smart valve from Amazon where the motor/controller mounts directly on the valve body, and it's been working really well.

Check with your home insurance company - mine offers discounted pricing on water leak detection systems from a variety of manufacturers.

Which components specifically?

I took another look at it and it appears it mounts directly to the pivot point of the valve. The one I had, that failed, mounted to the handle of the valve. I would still say the all in one smart valve is better but this is a big improvement on the handle mount version. This one doesn't require any pipe cutting so thats a plus for some.

Went with the other valve they make that's more money sitting next to this one after seeing reviews where the piece that it sits on top of it snap off due to crappy metal. I think it's a better design having 2 arms essentially wrap around the handle itself and turn it.

If you just want sensors and not the whole valve thing go with XSense.

Is it compatible with govee sensors? I have around 10 govee water link sensors and wondering if i can link them with the valve.

A bit more niche, but if you're already running Home Assistant with Zigbee or an Aqara setup, there's this for $90.
