"In 2016, Huy Fong abruptly terminated the relationship shortly after the harvest, citing a payment dispute (claiming Underwood (pepper farmers) overcharged $1.4 million). However, court evidence revealed Huy Fong had secretly planned the split for years: it formed a shell company (Chilico) to source cheaper peppers elsewhere, attempted to poach Underwood's chief operations officer, and used drone footage of Underwood's harvest techniques to train new suppliers—all while assuring Underwood of continued business to secure the 2016 crop. This left Underwood with millions in unsold peppers, massive debts from land expansions encouraged by Huy Fong, and layoffs of 45 workers."
Once I learned the crap they pulled they lost a customer for life.
