PS5 doesn't even support PCIe 5.0. It's a 4.0x4 M.2 slot. You'd get zero benefit from a 5.0 drive, and likely have a worse time with temperatures since these early gen 5 controllers run hot.

For those curious about the drive, I found a review of this model number, and it shows it is a TLC drive (I was worried it was a QLC drive, which potentially has less of an ability to rewrite sections of the drive and may have lower life). This would be a good deal for the drive alone, the monitor included at that price is awesome.

I know it's not a hard requirement, but isn't gen 5 recommended for PS5?

This is a great deal. I was just noticing last night that I was almost completely out of space on my PS5 even though I added a 1 TB SSD a few years ago.
Although, I now have too many portable monitors. I will probably need to return the AOC I picked up a few days ago. I like that the recent AOC has an integrated cover but I like that this one has a full sized HDMI port.

Do the USB-C ports on these things also output display?

You can remove the heatsink, per the link @Mike_W posted.

There are mixed reviews about whether the chips are TLC or QLC for Costco & non-Costco version:

https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews...index.html

Still good deal though since we won't notice much difference for PS5 use case.

What's a good 4 TB, hard drive for upgrading PS5.

Find something else in the promotion that costs $25, add it to your cart and the cost will be $210.
