I've been thinking of getting this but not sure how it compares to LEGO. The gull wing doors certainly make thisattractive and unique.

I've got a few sets and it's pretty comparable to Lego. Better than the Mega blocks Mattel makes, and some pretty unique pieces. I've really enjoyed all the Brick shop builds and at this price this is a great deal.

Great deal for this set. The quality of the bricks is not as good as LEGO, but the designers did a great job at making this vehicle. Some bricks are harder to snap together than others, different shapes than LEGO for some pieces, and the colors of some of the bricks are just different. I paid full price, would easily pick up for this discounted price - not as good as LEGO but not as bad as many of the other brands and knock offs.

compared to speed champions or some of the other lego cars, i prefer these greatly. built the NSX in about 5 hours, and they come with extra parts like different colored wheels, decals, and such to customize the kits a bit. I dont care for this particular car, but thats a hell of a deal.

Much nicer then comparable lego and technic sets. As a display peice the slightly lower quality is negligible.

I have the Corvette from this series and found it really slick. If you are a Lego purist, this may not work for you, but if you enjoy building block sets it is quite nice. Lego sometimes has unique pieces for a set but usually sticks with fairly typical bricks used in unique ways to get certain shapes and designs. I found this series has more specialized bricks to get the shapes which make the finished model look a bit sleeker, but it is not as challenging a build. The manual is well designed and similar to many Lego Ideas sets where there is a little bit of a story about the item being replicated in brick form and/or the people that made the set in addition to the actual directions. Most of these sets also include varieties of stickers and accessories so you can make the finished model unique to you. I have been quite happy with the build process and end result for the Corvette so suspect others in this series would be similar.

EDIT: This is a decent video showing the Mattel set compared to a very similar Lego series set [bing.com].

I remember building model cars when I was a kid. Not sure if this would be the same. Probably similar though.

I am a big LEGO collector and have built two of the smaller Brick Shop sets - the Camaro and Audi RS2 Avant - really enjoyed it, found quality to be very good. The pieces here are more specialized creating a more model-like final result.
Ordered the Benz could not resist at that price.

Lego themselves haven't been doing too good in terms of QC. Seen a lot of posts where there are color inconsistencies on the same color type brick.
