Glad I waited for BlackFriday/CyberMonday... Almost bought the Samsung T7 before I saw this cheaper sale price for T9. Going to use it in our new Tesla dashcam port to store not just video files, but also a separate file for music files. Nice sturdy build for the T9 model.

I think only the T7 Shield model is IP65 rated

"The T9 doesn't come IP-certified because, unlike the T7 Shield, it's neither dust- nor water-resistant."

I think I miss my 4TB T7 Shields to be honest and regret "upgrading" to the T9s. My 2x 4TB T9s have had some wierd slow down issues, on MacOS and Windows 11, where they evnetually both start writing data stupidly slow and nothing but a complete re-format "fixes" the issue... for a while. I started w/ ExFAT, then tried NTFS (I have my own NTFS drivers for MacOS) and even HFS+.. ALL with the same results. I'm wondering if my 2x SSDs are from a bum lot. When I get back from my job overseas, I'm gonna try an "Amazon Exchange" as Samsung Support has been less than useless for me thus far.

Never had an issue with the 2x 4TB T7 Shields in 3x years use (But alas, I donated them to another project already lol). I've also had a used 1TB T9 from BestBuy (Purchased for around $70) connected to my Studio Display taking Time Machine backups of my MacBook for a couple years now without any issues also. If I was in the market again today, I think I'd get another pair of T7 Shields (and will if they put out a larger capacity model in the future).

Prime Visa card. It's usually 5% back.

I had the "wierd slow down issues" with my T7 also. I even sent it to Samsung for repair under warranty. They ran it through their standard diagnostic which "found no problems" and shipped it right back to me. I installed Samsung Magician few days ago and there was a firmware update for the T7 which claims to address "slow down". I updated the firmware and have not experienced any slow down since. May be worth to check for firmware update for the T9.

That's the thing... I didn't start having the slowdown issues until AFTER I updated the firmware on both T9s... Maybe a coincidence, but a week later I transferred a bunch of stuff and it would cap at ~2MB/sec on both Windows and MacOS for both until I reformatted. Terrible.
