Steps to do this:

Start a shopping chat

Open the AI assistant and describe what you're shopping for, including budget, brand preferences, and any must‑have features.​

Let the assistant narrow the list and explain the trade‑offs between options until you see one you like.​

Select the item and proceed to checkout

Tell the assistant to "buy" or "check out" with the item you've chosen; it will pass you to a checkout flow with the correct merchant and price prefilled.​

On the payment screen, choose PayPal as the payment method if it is available; this is what enables PayPal's buyer protection and any linked promotion.​

Apply and confirm the 50%‑type offer (if eligible)

Log in to your PayPal account; if your account or card qualifies for a 50% or similar promo, you should see the offer label or discounted total before you finalize payment.​

Check the terms (maximum discount, eligible categories, and end date), make sure the correct funding source and shipping details are selected, then confirm payment to complete the order.​

Are you using the Perplexity app? I suggest using Perplexity through a web browser instead. The app didn't work for me when it came to getting the instant buy button to appear.


If the response doesn't give you one of the supported retailers as an option, switch from the 'Answer' tab to the 'Shopping' tab located at the top. You will most likely find the instant buy button option there. (See my attached screenshot)

Seems to be only for their website, but even then I was not able to get the instant buy/ PayPal option to show up. Only links directing to Newegg directly

Was able to get it to work with Newegg, you gotta keep prompting it until you see the item you want show up under the "shopping" tab. Try different variations like "deal on XXX" , "help me buy xxxx", etc

I'm guessing this only works with certain products on Newegg. I could get it to give me the instant buy option if I asked a generic question like find me a wifi 7 router on Newegg. But if I asked it to find me a specific model on Newegg or some variation of that I couldn't get it to work.

The prompting was so difficult to nudge it to the product I wanted to show up in the Shopping tab. It finally worked when I said "I want this {direct link to product}". In my case, it was a link to a SSD sold by Newegg.
