This is a solid deal because you are effectively getting premium AI access for $20/yr. It also stacked with my office 365 sub that was supposed to run out in May.
You could probably buy 2-3 years worth of office first and then buy this to effectively get several years of copilot premium for $20.
My theory is that you could buy a couple years of just office 365 family codes, add those to your account. Then buy this subscription and upgrade all the years. This would be consistent with what Microsoft did with Xbox game pass a few years ago.

you pay $8k just to save $50 for m365? do they give you this premium license too?
why would they hire you instead of millions out there with at least 10 years in experience willing to take minimum/starting salary due to recent layoffs?
Regardless, I'd guess the person signed up for courses at their CC (save money!) and with that comes a free M365 subscription.
