I get the "just use your phone" argument, but some folks don't want long videos filling their storage or don't want kids dropping a $1k phone. Plus phones overheat when recording a while.

Decent reviews, but from a 3rd party website it seems
But I've bought a couple vivitar cheapie camera items from Walmart and been underwhelmed. With a $30 MSRP you can't expect much I guess

it runs on a rechargeable USB battery and supports micro SD cards (sold separately) for extended recording sessions. Whether you're filming for TikTok, family events, or vacation memories, this affordable camcorder offers an easy entry into digital video creation.Uploading to tiktok from a micro sd card (or data transfer through usb c cable connection but it is unspecified) probably not the easiest. The 130 minute battery would be gone quickly as tiktoks need reshoots if not nailed perfectly and then charging this may take 2+ hours.8 of the 9 current reviews are ported from Sakar International but their website is weird and everything costs $399 and this device has 6 reviews all from October 2025. They have a 4k version but that's $80 at bestbuy but audio quality may be terrible and reddit says vivitar is mostly junk

what is the point of these now that we have iPhones that can record in full 4k 120fps?

You should watch a youtube video review of it to see the quality. The quality is pretty fuzzy, but maybe you consider that a feature for it's nostalgic effect

The fuds showed up just to complain about a $18 device they never intended to buy. LOL....

FWIW, some people don't have phones that record in 4K. Not to mention, cameras are just safer for kids to run around with, for activities you might not want to be holding your phone out for risk breaking, or (for example) older Gen X'ers who might be comfortable with camcorders but not more modern tech. Heck, I still carry a (rugged) small point and shoot for use when on vacation because it is A) easier to use when my hands are gloved B) has legit zoom 3) is honestly easier to use quickly D) I won't be uber upset if it breaks or gets stolen E) doesn't drain my phone battery F) forces me to actually review / edit / delete the 8 million photos I took as opposed to putting it off forever.

The reason I still use a camcorder (not this one) to record many things that are farther than like 10 feet is because most phones don't have any type of optical zoom. They have a digital zoom but that is garbage and gives you a picture of what it thinks things should look like. My camcorder also has storage for 7 hours of video and the battery usually lasts about an hour and 20 minutes or so of continuous recording. The camcorders I have range from a 20x optical zoom to a 50x optical zoom.

A phone is nice for quick everyday spur of the moment recordings though.

Yeah this is hilarious. "My thousand dollar iPhone records better video than this thing!" Well yeah, it better. LOL
