i don't like Ring though since they force you to use their cloud service if you want some recording.

i use reolink since they can use SD card and allows to playback recording remotely, which is nice, just pay once, and full feature, unlike Ring...

I'm locked into using blink security system for the next year since we paid $100 for it. The indoor camera has a delay and doorbell has weak signal. And has had issue reconnecting especially after stormy weather. Ring app is so much more modern and user friendly. I'd prefer ring but their cameras are mid more expensive

Reads like a helpful person giving their community advice, to me. As someone who doesn't want to do business with a company that partnered with Flock, I'm glad to hear alternative suggestions.

Keep your eyes on Woot. They have sales quite often on the Ring cameras and the alarm package, especially the battery powered Stick Up Cams. They are refurbs, but they are usually $30. Currently they are $35. But I've bought probably 30 refurb cameras over the years, and only had 2 bad ones...and Amazon replaced them. You can only buy 3 cameras at a time on Woot, so just keep an eye out as you build your system. The cameras are tricky to find on Woot since they don't have a search feature. Go to Electronics, then Surveillance and Security. Get a new base alarm package (5 piece), then get all the parts refurbed at a big discount. Here's the link to the outdoor cameras:
https://www.woot.com/category/ele...et_elec_11
And if you're having issues with your current security system...get rid of it and eat the $100. There would be nothing worse than actually needing the security that you have...but it didn't work. Grab a discounted system while they are on sale for BF. (or wait until Prime Days in July, they go on sale then too)

Ring partners with Flock security I believe. Sells your data; may want to avoid if you're not in the ecosystem yet.
