They did go on black friday sale last year for $80. I got a few then. They may go down lower in price, but that assumes they won't run out of stock.
Good: if you work the BIOS, you can turn this into a great retro emulator. Mine is set up with Batocera and plays every system up to Gamecube with no slowdown. Wii also works, but ps2 has slowdown issues.
Bad: Atari provides very little product support (the Dischord is decent), and it's likely not going to work out of the box without some work.
Fwiw, I found extremely few jaguar/lynx and next gen games available in their store, mostly homebrews and repops of 80s games. Atari doesn't own the rights to some of their better known arcade games, which further limits what's on the system.
If you have some sodimm ddr4 3200 speed ram and an ssd sitting around, this is a fun system to upgrade/tinker with.

They aren't bad for tinkerers. For $100 you get a decent start for a low end PC. Bazzite runs decent, was running win10 and moved to Bazzite after 10 went out of support.

Some hoops to jump through depending on your goal, but at the price, it's a decent setup.

Some of those 1-star reviews are rough, this seems overpriced.

FYI for anyone buying one of these you will have to manually update the machine yourself, which wasn't difficult, but a bit of a pain

Basically this is an old Ryzen dual core CPU : https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu....6G&id=3659
It's old. It's slow. It's fine, as others have said, for retro gaming and running Bazzite and such, but just be aware: it's old and slow.

The $300 junker laptops you see posted on SD have 4-10x the performance this device does. Get it because it's cheap, has the Atari VCS nostalgia, and has 2 controllers included. Don't get it expecting a good Win11/etc. experience.
Vega3 GPU, for those interested, is probably about as fast as a mobile nVidia 750M, common in entry level gaming laptops from over a decade ago. No, the 750M is faster: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...8vsm511366

Yikes. Thanks for the details. I really wanted one for the nostalgia, and figured I was going to drop something like Batocera on it...but you may have just talked me out of it. I love the design though...

Honestly, it's perfectly fine for Batocera. I tried playing Switch and WiiU games on it, and ehhh, it wasn't a good experience. It's just not fast enough. For older games, though (N64 and such) it would probably be fine. After all, it's $99.... That said, the N100 / N150 Intel boxes from a year or two ago are a good bit faster and about the same price once you add 16GB/500GB.

Your assessment is correct, but reminder that userbenchmark is the absolutely worst comparison tool for anything PC related on the face of this planet

I wanted to get this as an upgrade from my Nvidia Shield for retro emulation, but the PS2 performance being more miss than hit, coupled with the fact that there are chinese mini PCs on amazon (we-wo for example) for similar pricing that outclass this is a dealbreaker.

I would suspect given the age and ability of the hardware, this would need to drop to $50 to be a slickdeal, which I wouldn't expect unless they go on clearance.

Super unfortunate because like another poster said, I was really digging the look of this as a low-cost Living Room PC Console.

Because....? For relative performance it's fine. Do you have any details to show their assessment is wrong?
