FYI, your eyes don't deceive you, the price graph does show an increase, not a decrease.

You're comparing a solid state drive (SSD) to a mechanical drive. Not an apples to apples comparison.

What the warranty on these? Anyone try it as a storage repository in their Tesla for sentry mode?

You need a USB flash drive. This is a portable SSD though it is USB connection but it wont work

Its not even close to the same thing. Harddrive is for large storage that you rarely have to move around. This is much smaller, much faster and you can toss it into a backpack or carry on and not have to worry about shock damage from moving around. If the amount of data you need to back up is pretty small then this would be better in a lot of use cases. Also useful if youre storing something like a steam library that you want faster access. HDD would be for backing up a NAS or your PC or movie collection

And physical durability as far as shock. I would be more comfortable traveling around with this in a bag all day than a harddrive.

B&H Photo had the X10 4TB for $210 this morning. That is supposed to be much faster than the X9 here.
