It absolutely goes without saying that if you have a Blu-ray player, do not get this! Get the Blu-ray version as it is completely restored and the picture is amazing compared to the DVD version but if all you have is a DVD player because you're a 78-year-old shut-in living in a log cabin who refuses to interact "the normies", then I guess get this.

DVDs are great if you have a retro setup. I have a room set up for retro gaming on a CRT TV with old school surround sound, DVD/VHS player, and a cassette tape player. I also have a Roku connected via RCA cable to stream Vudu in SD to the TV. Sometimes it's fun to live in a little nostalgia.

The Blu-ray version shows all the glare on the monitors on the bridge. At least my cheap DVD doesn't break the 4th wall.

Extra clarity isn't always a good thing, especially for old 60s television series. As someone pointed out under the blu-ray sale, you can see the paint strokes on the backdrops. Kind of takes you out of the fantasy. I don't want to see the zits on the newscasters in 4K either, but there you go.

Though Amazon is sold out of the bluray set, Walmart still has it for $32 if you want TOS in high definition.
