I own this, and a couple of things to be aware of:

1. To enable the emergency light function, the light needs to be plugged into a powered outlet and the switch needs to be left in the ON position. If the power goes out, the light will turn on automatically. The light will not automatically turn on if the switch is in the OFF position.

2. The built-in battery is a 1 AAA Energizer NiMH 1.2V dc according to a seller response in the Q&A, which explains why it's not the brightest or longest running light. However, li-ion batteries are not meant to be plugged in all the time, so that's why they use an NiMH cell (although an AA would provide more power).

These lights are for one specific use case. There are to be left plugged in all the time ready to go so when the power goes off, they turn on automatically allowing you to have a light to do whatever other things you need to do, e.g., go check the breaker box, go grab a better flashlight, find your way to your storm shelter, etc. It's not supposed to be a high performance flashlight. It's just supposed to be always ready to go and light your way automatically.

I have these. They are very handy during a blackout, or to grab a light when needed.

Note: promo code valid for one use per item but may be used on multiple other eligible items per account.

This does not appear to be true. I used it on another item and can't get it on this item

40 lms? Runtime notwithstanding, a good keychain light will put out more light than that.

I have these, since last Christmas. They work great, thus far, and worth this money. Repped.

I'm not a flash light expert or any other kind of expert...but it seems given the overall size of the device, the runtime could be longer, especially at only 40 lumens, by them using a larger battery.

Still, I'm giving them a try. If nothing else, can serve as light where they're plugged in when the power goes out until I can get my other flash lights, lanterns, etc up and running.

I have these. I had to tape over the little indicator LEDs but not a big deal. Most other that I could find when I got them doubled as night lights and I appreciate that these operate simply as outage lights.

I've got one of these in the bathroom. Lost power during a shower once. Pretty weak flashlight but it's just to provide enough light to get a lantern, etc. on.

Fire hazard? Look at the reviews on Amazon. Search for the keyword fire and you will see several reviews advising these flashlights have an issue where some circuitry inside overheats and burns. Some of the reviews have photos of the flashlights with burned circuitry/cases, and it's quite shocking to see.

I was going to buy this, but after reading the reviews, will never have this in my home. Beware!
