Can this be done on the Flint 2 ? Just bought that one. but for another $10, I might just get this one instead.

As far as I know, it's only possible for the Slate 7. And $120 is tied with the lowest I've seen this since its introduction to the market.

Depends on the use case but you can, most routers from the last 15 years can be connected to an Ethernet source and create their own subnetwork. Installing openwrt is also possible on a lot of them if you know what to do.

Would this be a better option over the ASUS RT-AX57 GO -AX3000 thats also on sale? Im going on a cruise in the spring and could use one of these travel routers.

The touch screen is just a gimmick, and it runs really hot in normal operation.
This specific model may never see vanilla OpenWRT.
