the chipset that's being used here. Intel makes wifi chipsets also and some people prefer one brand or model against others.

For clients, I prefer Intel. Mediatek chipset usually pegs latency 2-3ms higher in my environment.

Yeah I have multiple 6E and WIFI7 clients, intel still innately faster.

I think you're better off with the MSI Herald. It's a Qualcomm NCM865 chipset, which has superior 5ghz and 6Ghz radios. It also supports 320Mhz channel width vs 160Mhz with the Mediatek chipset.

I generally view Qualcomm as superior to Mediatek, with Intel typically being near the top in performance. Intel cards are often not compatible with AMD CPUs however, so for AMD builds, it's hard to go wrong with Qualcomm.

Unsure what previous commentor means about Intel cards not being compatible with AMD CPUs. Since they seem to be alluding to desktops because of "builds". I know that's an issue for laptops but not for desktops. I installed a Gigabyte card which is a wrapper around an AX210 with my Zen 5 CPU and it worked fine. Just remember to install the drivers beforehand and enable WiFi 2 if you have built in Mo-Bo WiFi like me.

Did you try looking into this before refuting? Some Intel wi-fi cards are completely incompatible with PCs that have no compatible Intel CPU with CNVio2 protocols, like AX211 and AX411. AX210 on the other hand is compatible with AMD PCs. Easy to mix up, right?

Are AX211 / AX411 cards sold as PCIe cards for desktop PCs? Yes. And there are endless articles online where people try to troubleshoot why they aren't working, along with simple M.2 drop-in cards with the same common chipsets.

Thus, the reason why I usually steer non-tech people towards vendor chipsets that are universally compatible, particularly if they have an AMD build.

Yes those XX1 models are what I'm talking about. It's just that most Amazon searches will not bring up those models for the desktop market so it's not an issue. In fact the PCIe WiFi card market (which just wraps around an Intel or MTK card) is pretty stale other than a few well-known players like TP-Link, Gigabyte, MSi, Asus, etc. I mean look at this card, it has only 100-something reviews. That's nothing and highly unlikely to show up in a search.

You can buy the cards individually themselves but at that point you are looking at a minority of people who buy WiFi cards instead of ethernet for a stationary desktop, and then another minority that's going to buy an adapter, then plug in the card itself, and NOT know that AX211 WiFi 6E only works with Intel while AX210 works with both. End result is what I said already, most people will find chipsets that are already compatible, since there aren't many sold by major vendors that aren't.

I need some proof for that claim. Typing in "pcie wifi card AX211", so literally searching for an AX211 card on Amazon yields basically zero results on the first page except for the Intel card itself...which was my point...and I'd bet good money the AX211 people are having issues with their laptop and not desktop. On top of that the few AX211 card-only results say that they require Intel in the title itself.
