Well, that isn't the issue at all, it's supply & demand

Blame AI farms, they are buying pretty much everything, SSDs, HDs, all types of RAM, and and each of those are much higher now than they were 6 months ago, and it looks like 2026 will not get better, unless the AI bubble pops

so we got a extreme shortage of everything, and the price goes up

This doesn't seem like a deal to me. I'm pretty sure the 26TBs have been $247 each in the past.

Looks like the 18 gb for $299 come out about same per TB as well. I went with three of those to use in RAID 5 at a lower total cost.

Jeez the price skyrockets for that large of a drive. I got a couple 8tb wd reds literally 4 years ago for like $120 each and i was debating at the time whether the $299 16tb was worth it.

Nearly $20/TB for high-capacity brand new drives when it used to be close to $10/TB just a few years ago... yeah, pretty shitty.

I just bought from Amazon the 18TB for 290. Decent deal. Anyone buy directly from WD. I saw a bunch of reviews that says they are packed poorly which causing issues.
