Wow. I've been waiting on the hardback set to get cheaper. It was $99 last year, I think. But this was just too good to pass up, in for three!

I just want you to know I bought the hardcover. It is the heaviest, bar none, HEAVIEST set of books I own. And I own thousands, no exaggeration, I am a true bibliophile. I picked up the box and I thought it was a box of wine. Just be prepared. I thought, what did they bind this in, granite? By the way, it has a $43 coupon on it right now, so this makes it quite inexpensive right now.

Thank you for this feedback! I saw the coupon after I posted this. I just pulled the trigger for about $90 for the set.

What's your opinion? Given everything you said, is it worth buying just to have it as a collectors item, and read it maybe occasionally?

nvm, I went ahead and cancelled it. I like C&H enough that I'm more than willing to pay full price if I ever needed the hardcover set. For now the paperback version and this new compendium seem to be a better option.
Appreciate the feedback.

Not a snarky question: For those that show interest in these Calvin and Hobbes deals, is your interest in C&H chiefly nostalgia? Or do you genuinely enjoy it as an adult?

I never engaged with C&H, but recently listened to a podcast about Bill Watterson and thought I might give it a shot as an adult. I know I can easily do this without asking in a SD post... but just curious about SD adults on-going enjoyment of C&H vs mostly collecting/nostalgia.

Never paid attention to it when it was new, but I've been picking this edition up as they've released and am enjoying them!

Good except for the fact that they never put the last 2 sets on sale.

So its better to just wait for the full set to go on sale for 70 ish rather than try to buy these separately.
