they're always shuckable. The question is whether it's a Baraccuda or an Exos. And it's most likely the former, which is no bueno

Its been barracuda for months

they converted all their stock over 20TB-28TB to barracuda

120TB writes a year
power on time is 6 months out of a year

Not made for NAS unless you want to gamble it
Yes its CMR /HAMR but not exos or WD White label which is a rebadged enterprise drive.

I currently run two 26TB Barracuda in my synology 2 disk system since its in a mirror and does not write constantly like my true nas box in RAID , however it is being left on 24/7 and will be for a few years. All it does is process photos and data shares , maybe a VM or something.

so yes they work in NAS but not every drive is made equal even if it is CMR. Enterprise drives are made to work in multi disk boxes and have specialized hardware/firmware mitigations for anti vibration and a more robust firmware to handle inside a multi disk system. As an example most unraid and true nas users run 24 -36 disk super micro enterprise grade chasis
When all the disks are close to each other or you install into a case that has alot of vibration and heat , you are asking for trouble with these barracudas.

Exos and Ironwolf Pros are best for NAS applications.

I decided to bite on two of these with the 20% PayPal pay later cash back, you can't beat it. I'm using SHR1 for my synology 920+ media storage so hopefully, these drives are sufficient for now.

Same here. Barracudas are like Duraleaks. Even with redundancy it's not worth the risks unless you run a data center with a lot of drives for the discount to make a difference.
