MacOS still works great with only 8 GB of RAM. Millions of people do it. Most people will not need 16 GB, much less even more. The OS seamlessly pages RAM to SSD, and the SSD is so fast that it's difficult to notice any delay. That's the simple truth.

The claim is that paging memory into SSD causes more SSD read/write cycles, which can cause earlier SSD failure. But I have seen no evidence that, say, 8 GB machines fail sooner than 24 GB machines.
By way of background, I first developed Mac hardware products in 1989.

the ssd isnt that fast, its normal m2 speeds, and nowhere near ram speeds, so its not seamless at all
