I can certainly understand for a business / mobile projector, where the sound has to be at least passable (particularly volume) in a variety of situations. But a 4K projector with a bunch of visual codecs like Dolby Vision, HDR, etc., belongs as part of a system with a minimum of a sound bar, 3.1 setup, or better yet, a proper surround setup.

Maybe we underestimate the number of scenarios for how people use these?

Yeah I use this but for my kids and neighbors to play games so it's portable. Sometimes it's outside, sometimes it's in the garage where they play NeX Playground on it. It sounds great in an enclosed room for sure. Outside it's best connected to a sound system but really it's super portable and at 1k it has an amazing picture. I do wish that you could have 4k Netflix on it built in. Sucks to have an NVIDIA shield stuck to it just for that.

If you want to set something up in a bedroom, outside against a wall, etc. then that comes in handy.

i know someone that setup a full 10 seat theater in his basement, with custom sconces, name engraved, custom seating, etc... but a 55" wall mount tv.... on a wall that could've easily supported a 120 or 150".

I even told him go bigger...

It wasn't a financial decision ... they just didn't want to.
