tire inflator works ok, doesn't get dangerously hot after ~15 minutes of use. Jump starter has a boost button but I haven't tried it

Sorry, so it does or does not get dangerously hot?

Also have to mention, that's not always a good thing. I have electronic devices where the body of the device acts as a heatsink, and some people might think they are dangerously hot but they are protecting the board and electronics by transferring that heat. It's actually less dangerous overall.

omg, china just keeps raising the bar lol. this is insane. Now they have battery air pump AND the jumpstarter things in one??? For 35 dollars???

These jumpstarter things are amazing mine save my or others butt about 5 times. but i obviously dont have the combo theyre new.

But to be clear, I assume these battery units are only for "topping off" tires, right? No way it could actually inflate one (or even all 4) from very low, right? None of the user reviews seem to clear that up.

I mean, if it can top off a tire, why wouldn't it be able to fully inflate it?

its a nice little unit. Used it 2x so far to top-off air pressure in a ford explorer, only a few psi per tire but worked fine.
Minor complaint is the hose is pretty short, so had to hold it on one of the tires as valve stem was at the 10 o'clock position.

My Dewalt inflator is much faster, quieter, and doesn't overheat after long runtime... but that was $75 w/o battery.

For $35, worth having in the car

Because it's on battery power?

Also the couple of these ones that plug in the cigarette lighter I've owned, get very hot, i dont know you'd want to do more than one tire (from low) without a break. Although I suppose thats a completely separate issue.

The one I got a few yrs ago is much better than the first one I got, technology improving I guess. The first one got hot and was slow, so it would overheat before it could fully inflate a tire.

The newer one will inflate much faster, so it can finish a whole tire before overheating.

It can, probably. Car and driver is one of the few places I've seen where they actually try to inflate a tire from very low PSI to full. Results here. It's not this exact model but another astroAI product, probably the same internal battery. I'd spend more on this and stick with a 12v one if it's mostly for your car tires. I would personally keep the jump start feature separate from a tire inflator feature.

Actually project farm did a video on combo units here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A...5qo&t=425s
Too long to wait for me personally, and they drain fast with one tire.

One that powers from 12V as well as has a battery but no jump start (mostly useful for EVs):

I got this last time. Handy unit.

Despite the inclusion of a needle, it does a crap job of inflating balls. Keeps cutting off too early. Other then that it's nice.

I recommend having a jumpstarter in your EV. If you have juice in the main battery but the 12v dies (and mine has twice) then you can jump it so you can get into the frunk and on the road.
