What's the function of this knife, typical use case? Genuinely interested!

was surprised to see this knife come up since it is basically borderline infringing on Spyderco's utility and design patents. the trademark round hole, also known as the Spydie Hole, is patented and always has been for the last 40 years and is a legally protected trademark. i also know the locking mechanisms are proprietary and patented such as the compression lock and the ball bearing lock which I don't think this knife has but these are also protected patents and there's also other secured patents for other features and designs like a certain type of pocket clip that a lot of people copy now but don't completely infringe on but yeah that round hole is basically over the fence legally...

skinning and efficiently taking muscle/tendons/connective tissues close off bone mostly...cutting seat belts, rope quickly and other related misc emergency extraction purposes like paratroopers needing to cut stuff off them mid jump if something with rig hangs up/goes wrong or after jump after hitting ground secondary... that's what the curved shape is designed to do better

Ever heard of self defense? I am a smallish guy 5ft 9inch. If my daughter is switch me and I am out and about I carry something like this.

These are highly impractical for self defense. Unless you are heavily trained with the karambit, there are much better knives out there for self defense purposes (though to have a knife for self defense it is foolish to use one and not be trained with it as one can easily be turned around on you). I personally carry a Benchmade SOCP dagger. I also like the Shivworks clinch pick and push dagger FWIW
