Great deal! For people that need a charger and are looking for multiple batteries, they also have two 5Ah and a charger for $113[woot.com], so you'd be paying an extra $13 for the charger versus this deal.
I'm curious about the reasoning behind that statement, as there shouldn't be a difference between a 5Ah XR and a non-XR battery. Just a rebranding due to newer batteries and technology.

That's technically not true. XR was originally used to denote eXtended Runtime, and this battery was branded that way. Now XR is used to brand premium tabless or pouch batteries regardless of runtime, including the 1.7 Ah (DCBP034) and 3.5 Ah (DCBP320) POWERSTACK packs. This battery lasts longer than either of those two XR batteries.
Says this is an XR battery - "20-Volt MAX 5.0Ah XR Lithium Ion battery X2"
There are 2 two-battery plus charger deals, one for $113.99, the other for $114.99, both have the same photo, but the description on the cheaper one says "This DEWALT 20-Volt Max battery kit includes (2) DCB205 batteries, and (1) DCB1104 charger."

These batteries (DCB205) manufactured before early 2024 are branded XR. Newer batteries are not. The internals are the same.

The issue is that referring to a battery as XR is not very specific. Currently there are four XR batteries: DCBP034, DCBP320, DCCBP520 (1.7, 3.5 and 5.0 Ah POWERSTACK) and DCB2108 (8 Ah POWERPACK). Plus, the DCB2104 (4 Ah POWERPACK) is soon to be released.
Before that, all of the following batteries were also branded as XR: DCB203, DCB204, DCB205, DCB206, DCB208 and DCB210 (2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 Ah). For these packs, the XR branding was removed in 2024. However, some of these packs manufactured before that date with the XR branding are still on the shelves being sold as new. Therefore "XR" could refer to any of 11 different packs.
If you are saying the newer DCB205s don't last as long as the DCB205 packs with the XR branding, then that is just bad luck. The new DCB205s still use the same Samsung 25R cells (two rows of five) that they always have and the circuit boards also were not changed with the branding update. It is possible that the very old DCB205s had a different circuit board but, even if that is the case, it shouldn't have a significant impact on runtime.
