Is the window hard to keep clean? I have an air fryer toaster oven combo and the window is spotted with oil and whatnot all over

Of course it is, but I have a similar model that I bought from Costco, and having the window has incentivized me to clean it after each use (which is probably what people should be doing) for no other reason than to keep the window clean, because it is actually a usable feature to have on an air fryer.

I had my eye on the Costco one but read some reviews that said that they were heating their kitchen? I already have a Gourmia AF and that have never happened, it's one of the reasons we like using it (so it doesn't heat the kitchen in the summer). Do you think those units were defective?

I have the $45 Costco one. Love it, and I consider it an outstanding value.
It's listed at 1700W (not 450W as claimed above), so yes it generates a lot of heat. No, I don't think they're defective; this is just how air fryers work. Very hot air is circulated rapidly to avoid overheating and expel moisture. It's not unlike running a space heater for the ~10 minutes it takes to cook your food, so you may want to limit usage during the summer.
