Don't buy that incredibly misleading marketing line. X-Boost does not boost the output. It reduces voltage and only works if the device you're powering will run at lower voltage, and even then, you're simply just running whatever appliance or device at lower output than you would typically, so its performance will likely be crippled if it even works at all.

I don't even know how they get away with marketing that feature, it's basically a full on lie. Maybe they only market it like that on US customer portals since in the US lying to the public is not only permitted but encouraged.

768Wh is from the battery specs. When you run an inverter from that battery, it never runs at 100% efficiency. You get about 80-90% efficiency max. It also needs to power the DC-DC converter to run the USB ports and such. So no, you will NEVER ever get 768Wh in actual real use.

River 2 is only 256wh, this is EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro with 768wh.
Not the same thing, but the Ecoflow naming is terrible inviting confusion.

Lots of people in the Costco reviews are saying this gets closer to 600Wh instead of the advertised 768Wh. Wanted another generator to compliment my old GoLabs unit we mainly use for travel and outages. May just bite the bullet since it is Costco and you can always return.

This is a great little unit. I have 5 of them and they are very very reliable with good wifi connections too, so the app works great. But, I will say...turn off the X-Boost feature or you risk frying the inverter as I found out. Thankfully, EcoFlow replaced my damaged units.

Roughly how many watts were you doing before they fried?

Actually it was a laser printer and i think the initial pull is what killed the inverters...but that goes to show they don't have the right fusing or whatever to shut off the inverter when too much power.

thanks, on the verge of getting this but ... can you advise of the next higher-priced product that can do more than 800 watts?

This delta 2 claims it can do 1800 watts with no mention of X-Boost. Don't have it myself so I can't confirm.

Will this work as backup power for sump pump?
I fried a smaller River trying to do that. YMMV

I have a 1500Wh/2000W from another brand now that I've even ran an 8000 BTU airconditioner from, cold start and all. So my issues could've easily been unrelated.

I just bought the anker solid 300DC. I mainly want it for a quick and easy power station that can handle my 12v fridge and charge phones. I'm wondering it I should upgrade to this item instead.

Can confirm, Delta 2 will run 1800 watts.

X-Boost and the similar technologies every manufacturer offers are techniques to operate certain devices that require a fixed amount of amps. Heating devices are most common, ie an electric skillet, heat gun, hair dryer, space heater. These devices will work but at a reduced output, ie you're only getting 800 watts worth of heat out of the River 2 Pro (& frequently less).
The other way to think about these techniques is that they can sort of function like a soft-start - the inverter can briefly supply higher amperage at a lower voltage, then when the amperage draw is reduced the voltage will return to normal.
You're much better off using a power station with a sufficiently strong inverter if you know the application in advance, but in a pinch these techniques can be the difference between a device working poorly or not at all.

There definitely are some, but probably not super close in price point. It depends on what features you're wanting. I'm looking at the Bluetti AC200L with the 30A TT-30 110V outlet for my camper to run the AC occasionally and charge it instead of using the excessively heavy generator I bought last summer. I'm not planning on running it all the time. I can get a cheaper generator to charge that, or use more solar panels. It was like $667. I'm hoping it drops a little more on Black Friday, since I don't need it until next year.

I am seeing 289 in cart after discount not 230. did they pump the price up so they can Black Friday sell or something? or is it only 230 if your local warehouse has stock?

Price seems to have increased. This was a online (not warehouse only) deal.

delta 2 better for higher usage, will easily run my 15 amp chop saw, and will take up to 500 watts pv, but it is noisy......

Get a used delta 2, it easily runs my 15 amp saws and will take 500 watt PV input, but it is noisy...
