I was planning to buy 1 or 2 WD SSDs but the customer service complaints scared me off.

$70/tb should be high, but the market is crap because we've lost the trade war. Thanks, I'm tired of "winning".

If you have bad luck with things you buy, then CS matters. Otherwise, don't worry about the "what ifs."

Before WD spun off its SSD division to Sandisk recently, SDers were bending backwards to buy the SN850X line. Wars were raged between Samsung and WD. It's a good brand with known quality on its drives. Until it's proven otherwise, buy with confidence.

Kind of incorrect but it's because it's confusing naming. Western digital bought SanDisk in 2016 then in 2025 they spun off from western digital as an independent company focused on flash storage like ssds and memory and memory cards, while western digital is focused on hard disk drives.

How does this compare to the Western Digital 2TB WD Blue SN5000 NVMe SSD that they had on sale for $110 with use in the PS5

Agreed. WD storage quality is great never had any issues with it since I have been using it forever. This is a good price for the quality. I wouldn't worry too much about support. Walmart has a return policy up to Jan 31. If you are still worried, you could pay extra for the insurance but IMO there's nothing to worry about support that you will most likely never need for the lifetime of this drive.

Looks like it maybe out of stock at some locations. I ordered yesterday, and it was cancelled today by Walmart. However, it still shows on the site so I reordered. Waiting to see what happens, most likely will be cancelled again.

I ordered this item yesterday and received it today, only to find that it's been swapped out with a Samsung 512gb SSD with the 2TB sticker slapped on instead. I don't understand how this could happen when it's supposed to be "New". Talking to Walmart CS atm to get a replacement, but they're steering me towards a refund and a physical drop off at the nearest Walmart instead.
What a horrible experience it's been so far...
