I have 2 of these. I use one as liner for a bigger bed that I have, I tucked it in. this way, for quick cleaning I can just put this in the washing machine, instead of washing the whole big bed. I use another one as extra bed for her in places where I don't have room for a full bed - in my case I keep it next to my couch, on top of carpet, so she can lay there and I won't trip if i step on it. She has another bigger bed in the room but not close to the tv. I have washed both of them couple times and they are still looking good. I use them with the smooth side up, because my dog likes to dig/make her bed, and the fluffy sides just stimulates her to do even more digging.
