temperature control is a "nice to have" but i don't do crazy long smoke outs so i don't think i will miss too much... the charcoal lighting seems super clutch - though i guess the downside to it is that you can't use the ash bowl?
I dunno, having a hard time deciding.

Really depends on how good the Grilla warranty support is, because there is plenty of blitching about KJ lately

I was considering getting one when they were first on clearance, do yourself a favor and look up reviews.

I have a Vision grill that I bought at Sam's on clearance years ago and when it developed a crack in the outer shell they sent me a complete new grill, just had to pay shipping.

For moving, I def recommend the forearm straps. I had a pair and made moving my Kamado Joe Big Joe super easy, actually.
As for warranty, it used to be owned privately by a guy in Atlanta and then he sold to Masterbuilt. Not sure how warranty is now, but used to be pretty good. Lifetime on ceramics (lid, base, deflector plates) and maybe 5 years on metal? Again, mine is 10+ years and all I've done is replace the casters on my cart due to dry rot in South Florida.
Comparing this to a big green egg its basically apples to apples, though different varieties. The hinge system on the newer models is great. Necessary? Not really, but def a good convenience. They all operate the same (Kamado Joe, Big Green Egg, Grilla, etc). You adjust the heat by adjusting the airflow using the bottom and top vents.
Ive had the KJ Classic size and Big Joe size (simultaneously) and while the Big Joe is nice, the classic is the one I kept. I also have their mini version which is great to use for knocking out a couple steaks. I have done 3 racks coiled up on it as well
In summary, Id def consider picking up one of these. Especially if youve been on the fence about it. I love mine. Probably use my Weber Genesis gas unit more only out of convenience... but I do love the good ol KJ.
