obviously I need to google this, but if I wanted to replace my 3x Lead Acid Trojan batteries for my golf cart, what kind of charger would I need? Would it need 36v output, or could I simply connect a regular 12v charger to the system and charge, albeit slowly?

Different chemestry batteries need* specific chargers for that chemestry - so you would need a lifepo4 charger instead of the one built in for your existing lead-acid/sealed LA/AGM. The nominal 12v or 36v answer depends on how it's wired internally, so you'd have to check the hardware/wiring yourself to be sure if it's series or parallel.

* Note: there is overlap between different battery chemestry so someone who either knows a lot (or doesn't know enough) can find a way to charge batterys using the wrong charger, but it is really not a good long term plan

I have a pond air pump ruuning from UPS but it does not last very long when power outage. Can i replace the small UPS battery with this if i can extense the wires ?

Appreciate that, I'm definitely planning on getting a new charger to go along with it.

I've done some google searching this morning and there are a LOT of people saying it's a bad idea to put 3x in series to get 36v as the BMS will really complain.

Lots of recommendations for a chins 36v but that sucker is $600.....

Hey just wanted to say, I just did this myself and it works. I'm using a cyberpower cp1000pfclcd with ups on the pc/monitor/modem/router. I had planned to do this a while ago and had everything ready, I had bought some 10ga wire from home depot, a 30A breaker to put on the hot side close to the battery (I will change it to a 60A, since this UPS only does 600w max anyway) and the spade terminals to connect to the UPS and ring terminals for the battery. I ran the wire from under the UPS from the battery compartment area to this battery and its fully functional. I could start the UPS from the battery alone and it works when I test it by pulling the socket out the wall, all devices stay on and this battery takes over. Good luck with your project!

Please do your research before buying.. This is a minimal capacity battery. About 1/2 of the capacity as a standard sized battery. NOT for a golf cart. NOT a good trolling motor battery. NOT for a car. Really, this battery has limited uses.

Use this exact battery for trolling motor and has been in use for 3 years without issue. Get a full day of fishing out of it.
