I love to talk about sports, tv, and movies and hopefully some other people do, too, so here's a thread for it. Coupon deals are welcome, too.

I wanted to watch something light so I checked out High Potential. I saw the first 2 episodes and I enjoyed it. Then I gave Abbott Elementary a try. I love it!! Highly recommended!!
Agree about both shows. Kaitlin Olsen is fabulous in High Potential.

The problem with Hulu is that the commercials are excessive. The free month is only available if you get the ads. The commercials come on every 3 minutes or so. The other streaming services have been good about not having too many commercials but Hulu is ridiculous. I like the content and Hulu is easy to use but the commercials are going to drive me away.
100% - it's so hard to get into a show when they're breaking for a commercial every few minutes. I did the free month recently and it drove me nuts.

She really is. I like her boss, too. So many shows have mean bosses so it's nice to finally get a show with cool one.

Abbott Elementary is something special. At first, I didn't like the principal but now I see that she's learned to manipulate the system to get what she wants and also help the teachers and kids get what they need.

I may have to pay the $18.99 for ad free.

I've been watching High Potential on regular TV from the beginning and continue to enjoy it. It's actually a show even my husband will watch and he's not much of a TV watcher - can't sit still that long, lol.

I don't know all the options available with Hulu (we now get it included with our cable subscription with Spectrum), but is there a lower priced plan that includes some commercials? We get commercials on Hulu, but not as many as it seems you are getting. I don't count, but I would say quite a bit less than on a network broadcasted show. That may work for you and save some money too.

Oh, and speaking of Hulu. There's a goofy, kind of quirky show - Chad Powers. Wasn't sure I was going to watch it but when I did I kept on watching all six episodes. Not great but not bad either; just a different kind of show than I would usually watch.

I guess you could say that there's a high potential for enjoyment watching High Potential. Sorry, I had to...lol

I don't know this for a fact but I think that Hulu doubles or triples the commercials on the free deals to make you switch to the pay plans.

They switched me over to Spectrum last week. It only took a minute or two and my picture is much better than my previous service. They didn't give me a channel guide and finding anything is so confusing. I almost missed the UFC on Saturday because I couldn't find FX.

It looks interesting. I'll give it a try this afternoon. I looked up Glen Powell (Chad) and he's 37 years old. I thought that he looked a little too old for college. I don't know why they can't find a college age actor to play a college kid. Wasn't Jake Paul available? (just kidding)

There's an actress that they always cast as a 20-year-old hippie chick but she's actually 35. There's a pic of her on Wikipedia from 2010 and she'd be perfect for the role then. She's a good actress but the casting is questionable. It can't be that hard to find young actors and actresses to play these parts.

I watched the first 2 episodes of Chad. It's a little too goofy for me and Chad is 10 years too old but I kept on watching so that's something. I counted 16 commercials per show. It seemed like Abbott had twice that many. I don't like how it starts off with 3 commercials instead of the show. The commercials are supposed to come after the content.

I think I'll finish Chad. After all, I have nothing but time with all of this rain. It's only 4 more episodes so I might as well see how it turns out. I know, Chad will win the Super Bowl (even though he's only in college) and marry the coach's daughter. Am I close? lmao

The commercials on hulu seem highly show dependent. We can handle those far better than Paramount+, they were the worst to us but it could be the content we are watching on hulu. I think we kept track once on Paramount+ and there were 10 commercial breaks in a half hour show. It did not seem like that was an outlier, we counted only that one time but did so because they seemed to be every couple of minutes.

We are super annoyed that there is no commercial free option for Prime. Not that we would necessarily take it but to not even get the choice...

My plan was to keep on watching Chad Powers but then I saw Superstore and I've always wanted to watch it. I'll be brutally honest, it's awful (I mean really, really bad) but I can't stop cracking up. It's obviously based on Wal-Mart but I like to think of it as CVS. The SM must actually work for CVS because he's just as incompetent. America Ferrera, Lauren Ash, and Colton Dunn are terrific.

Now that's really weird. I had almost no commercials on Paramount+. I had 16 commercial breaks per episode on Chad Powers. I'm going to have to switch to the no adds plan on Hulu but I wonder if I'll get credit for the 3 free days from the trial. I don't want to pay $18.99 for 28 days instead of 31.

My husband couldn't believe I used to watch Superstore. He thought it was awful; I thought it was funny since it reminded me of actually shopping and the folks one could encounter!

Chad Powers is not a limited series so does not really 'end'. The sixth episode leaves a cliff hanger. And I just read that there will be a second season with production starting in January.

Oh, and I don't know if you're still watching Chad Powers, but it's not the coach's daughter he ends up being 'involved' with. Now that may get you to watch it if you stopped, lol.

Final note on Chad Powers - he's not a typically-aged college student because he goes back to college eight years after his blunder during his original college football career. So this is why his character is played by an older actor.

Final TV note for now - does anyone else watch Jeopardy? (It's finally available on streaming services this fall). The current champion is looking promising to be a long-running champ. Five big wins so far.

I'm changing my review of Superstore. It's fantastic. I can't stop laughing. The toothbrush joke at the end of the 3rd episode had me cracking up for 10 minutes. Superstore the most non-PC show that I've ever seen and I'm shocked that it was ever on network tv.

I want to give St Denis a try. I hope that it's Superstore in a medical environment.

Chad Powers is on my list but the list keeps on getting longer. Hulu has a lot of good shows to watch.

Funny shows are a nice break from all of the serious stuff that I've been watching.

Hulu is showing a lot of commercials for Jeopardy.

My issue with Chad Powers is that by pretending to be somebody else all he's doing is running away from his problems instead of facing them. You can't put on make-up and suddenly become a new person. His new look is so fake anyway. I'm not trying to be critical. It just touches a nerve.
