Slow movie, but really good. Stick with it and it pays off in the end.

How long do you have to stick with it? I have a copy already, watched 30 minutes and then turned it off. Been sitting on my shelf for 2 years now and haven't had the urge to pick it up and try it again :-) I do want to finish it, just must know there's some sort of payoff here at the end.

I appreciate good cinematography but, god, that entire movie was a slog. It wasn't worth the payoff for me. The trailer made it seem like there was more action when the vast majority of the movie is just sloooooow.

Horrible movie. Having gone to hundreds of movies, this is the only one I ever walked out due to it being that bad.

I'm sure the slow burn/artsy fartsy Asheville type crowd will absolutely love it but if you're looking for anything that sticks close to the legend, history or really anything grounded and fast paced, this is not for you.

You made the right choice. What do you like doing? Do that for 2 hours instead. This movie is the definition of Sunk Cost Fallacy! Leave it on the shelf for another 2 years and then trade it for magic beans or something. Wink

lol, yeah I think I continue to let it sit on the shelf a little longer until I get really brave/desperate again to watch. Luckily my media shelf is fairly large and I've got plenty of other shows to watch. BTW I got a really good deal on my copy (spent less $ than this deal), so I don't feel any big loss. Kudos to the folks that like the movie, got nothing against that.

OK with everything you said except about the grounded thing. It's literally based on an old fantasy poem/tale about a guy who challenges anyone to trades sword strikes and they get to go first and hit him anywhere they want, and one person cuts off his head, and then he puts his head back on and says "You're next." That's the story this movie is based on, so it's very "grounded" considering.

If it's not your thing, it's not your thing, and ain't nothing wrong with that, but to offer another opinion, I liked it. The cinematography and editing was gorgeous and modern in the sense that it made what I worried was a stuffy old knight fantasy tale into something that hooked me in right away. It's a gorgeous looking movie in 4k. It is fever-dreamish in certain parts for sure. But I enjoyed it a lot. It's a pretty simple there and back again tale with some fantasy elements but the acting and gorgeous cinematography will definitely be worth it at less than $10 bucks for a lot of people. I didn't regret picking it up, but oh lord I regret buying King Kong (2005) for $8 recently. Oh boy is that just an eight dollar waste of shelf space.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then.

When it comes to Arthurian legend(can't believe I just said that, I promise you I'm not that into this) I don't mind some liberty being taken. The 1980s movie Excalibur being one.. it was an absolutely amazing film but the writer and director took some liberties.

But the green knight? Two male knights having some sword play(in the bedroom, not on the field) naked giants who are randomly walking around and not explained.

It felt like it was directed by Willem Defoes character in Mr Beans Holiday.. a giant artsy fartsy mix of.. well I can't even describe how incohesive and confusing the entire thing was.

They indeed took a 14th century poem and twisted and warped the story horribly.

No arguments on King Kong, I think the entire genre including Godzilla is ridiculous. If I want scifi, I'll go watch something like Alien or Edge of Tomorrow.

Made it about 45 minutes through this one before I tapped out. It just kept getting weirder and weirder and felt like I was watching someone's dream where things happened but they weren't all related and seemed to just be taking place randomly.

Ok ended up buying because I'm dying to know how bad this is. FYI I watch King Kong every few years and enjoy it
