Pretty sure these titles are all public domain. I know the Oz series is.
You can get FREE public domain audio books at https://librivox.org/ The have the entire Oz series and some with multiple versions.
Libribox has volunteer readers I think, so Audible version maybe better quality.

I just previewed all of them. Definitely amateur narrators with performances ranging from barely listenable to really awful. Hard pass for me at any price.

Thank you for finding these! I find it difficult to discover decent titles on sale, even during the sales!

Hell yeah. The Agatha Christie Collection shows up as $0.70 for me. I bought them. 40 hours worth of audiobooks for less than a dollar. I like it.

There are multiple recently reviews stating issues with parts missing/cutting out. I know this is crazy cheap, but I'm not sure if it's worth the time if the quality isn't there

Worth a try - I put 26K miles on my car this past year, so I need to kill a lot of time in the car. Showing up as only $.70 each for me. Downloaded 3 collections, so I'll have lost a whopping $2.10 if they suck.

Not true.. I bought 4 and previewed Iliad and Charles Dickens - both of them sound like any other Audible audiobook.

Glad to hear you're happy with them. That's what matters in the end.

I have listened to over 400 books via Audible. I can tell you for me, there's a definite difference between these public domain "classics" readers and the seasoned professional narrators. The voice artists who can make even a mediocre story entertaining. Gerard Doyle, Julia Whelan, Steve Carlson, Wil Wheaton, Angela Dawe, Luke Daniels… these and several others are A list narrators and their performances are so superior compared to the amateurs it's apples and oranges.

Pro tip: preview an audiobook BEFORE you buy, not after you've already plunked down your dosh. 😉

Thanks, OP. Bought a couple (at the non-member price of $1.43).
How does one find deals like this? I tried to use the browse/search on Audible, sorting by price, filtering for duration, and didn't have great luck.

This is probably going to be a stupid question: How does someone less experienced in audiobooks find titles read by such "A-list narrators", other than just searching on the list of narrators you've listed? Are there audiobook groups/blogs/forums you recommend? TIA
