That chrome reminds me of the Sears USA versions of Christmas past.

I've recently got this set. Definitely recommend it's nicer than the standard craftsman line

The craftsman overdrive wrenches have scored really well in youtube reviews.

I have the craftsman overdrive 1/2" ratchet and it works well, but the ratchet direction switch is pretty hard to move. You may consider that a feature or a bug, but for me its inconvenient because I have to take off my gloves to switch it.

This set will last you for years. I have a case similar to this by Craftsman. Over time, the wrenches from the top slip out fall down whenever you open the case, which I found annoying, so I removed all of them and hung them on a peg board.

I went to lowes to get another Craftsment set for $99, the kind in the red box with three drawers. Saw this one and ended up getting it for $150 I think. The ratchets had a higher tooth count and looked of higher quality, and the form factor worked better to keep in the used car I just bought. Used it for a couple of repairs and has worked out.

Why not this one, I bought it for $131.12 last night, Now $149 this morning.

Separately, how does Craftsman 2025 compare to the early 80's version? Will I notice a difference?

The Overdrive version has special grooves to allow them to better grip rounded off fasteners.

This set is slightly stronger than the one you bought. Unless your a professional you'll never notice the difference in strength & non-slip grip. The older craftsman tools are stronger, but only a professional wrench turner would notice the difference.
