I didn't have much, but redeemed all of my 3,941 ThankYou points ($39.41) into a $49.27 Apple e-gift card, which arrived to my email within minutes of the order.
I thought I had a good deal when they offered 15% off. I bought more at 20%

I'm actually so tilted. Redeemed for 15% off yesterday
I think it's pretty messed up of Citi to continuously offer 15% on Black Friday every year, as if that's their major doorbuster point-exchange deal, and have people cash out all of their points for that, thinking they just got an amazing deal... and then just few days later like clockwork, Citi ups it to 20% but now those people don't have any points left to get them because they already used them all up on Black Friday/weekend. I feel bad for those who saw that 15% and fell for the bait.
Lesson is to accumulate Citi points til Cyber Monday every year specifically for this promo on Apple GC's; do NOT fall for their Black Friday "deal". Citi really should instead just make it 20% for Black Friday thru Cyber Monday. Not that 15% crap.

Agreed. I cashed my points for $550 in Apple gift cards too.
Still think it's better to transfer to travel partners vs doing this. It's only 1.25 cents per point value which is low.
Yeah, not sure why everyone thinks this is the best deal for ThankYou points. You can get a better return with travel transfer partners.
If one is using Citi Double Cash to accumulate 2x points, this effectively gives you 2.5 cents per point. However, you can easily get that value with other credit cards.
Plus, as others have said, Apple store prices are usually higher than other retail stores.
I'm sure there are many people that will never use Citi points for travel so this is a good way to burn the points. But I'd think about switching credit cards instead.

Maybe with the higher AF cards. My transfer opps with the custom cash card don't appear to be great. Also, what retail store prices iPhones less than the apple store?
Thanks, I don't use this card very much, but for some reason, it's set up for Chewy orders, so I let it stay. Enough points for a $50 gift card -- A+
I don't use the card enough for travel points, and it's a good way to use the points at a higher value. I have a lot tied into Apple monthly fees, Apple Music, etc, so every little bit helps.
Do you have some example of some travel partners that offer higher than 1.25cpp?
I've done significantly better on an unusual but doable transfer:
Citi ThankYou 25,000 transferred to Turkish Miles 25,000.
Used the Turkish portal to book round-trip first class (lie-flats/standard seating mix) from East Coast to/from Maui.
Those tickets are normally around $2,500 so that's a redemption of 10 cents/mile. Getting more than 1.25c per mile is much easier than the above award travel.

I think 20% off Apple GCs are great, but I'm wondering if the better value lies in the hotel rewards?
