You can blame AI companies like nVidia for buying up all the chips, making RAM and SSD very expensive for consumers.

Back in April 2025, I bought the 8TB version of this for $639...it's now $909. WOW!

SSD Pricing is up 25%+ in the last two months due a shortage of NAND chips and it is expected to get much worse, and this is a 2TB SSD with DRAM which hasn't been under $100 in the last two years.

How can you tell if an ssd has DRAM?

The current day sales prices for NVMe SSDs specifically for Gen 4 aren't all that impressive. Glad I stockpiled me some before the DRAM shortage struck...

Most PC parts that include a controller (component) to function that being TLC SSDs require the integration of DRAM in its production. Now, there are some SSDs that operate in the absence of DRAM, however, they're not highly desired.

Decent deal but there was recently a Lexar 2TB at B&H also with DRAM for $130 so this isn't quite as good in my opinion, though that one didn't have a heatsink
