I think Tomb Raider 2013 is aspyr's first switch 2 game and it didn't have an upgrade path from sw1 to sw2. So I wouldn't buy with that hope

Im trying to get my son 8 to use his Nintendo Switch more instead of being on his tablet. Do you think Tomb Raider 3 will do the trick? Honest question lol.

lol nah the only people that are going to like the tomb raider remasters are people approaching or already in their 40s

I was in the same exact boat with my 8 year old daughter. So I first had her play co-op with me Super Mario 3d world in 2 player. I would have her enjoy the open world areas then she would put herself in a bubble and I would do the harder parts. I then started her with Donkey Kong Bonanza. I played it first while she watched to get her interested in it, then she only had me beat the harder main enemies for her. She put hundreds of hrs Into it and loves it because of the open world / break everything mechanics. After that I currently went backwards and have her playing Mario Odyssey. Since she played so much Donkey Kong, she got used to manipulating the camera so open world games became more fun. I think that is the key for you also, get your son interested by interacting with those open world games with him, then he will play by himself. Once he does that, he will put the stupid tablet / YouTube nonsense down and play games himself instead of watching other kids play with toys or video games lol. Thats what happened in my case anyway.
