If you want basically the same watch but with a MIPS screen and Solar/Sapphire the Fenix 7 pro Solar Sapphire is still $450 from Scuba.com. I used a code mid November for an extra $25 off that price, but it'll probably still work.

These versions will stop getting updated software so you're basically getting and sticking with the same software version that comes when you purchase it

I just bought both watch and is still debating on which one to keep. Any reason you're choosing the fenix vs this epix?

The main — or really the only — difference is the screen. If you're a heavy outdoor user, go with MIPS. If not, AMOLED is far better in almost every way.

My concern with the epix is the battery life. I believe the mips is not as bright but have a much superior battery life. I don't really like charging my watch often. My current vivoactive lasts only about 3 days now. I'm hoping to have something that lasts 2-3 weeks if possible.

Not sure the epix can hit the same battery life as the fenix. Especially if I take it on walks daily

What new features would people really be missing out on? Personally I just want to watch that does what it says when I buy it, and they have an app market (albeit limited) for unique things if needed. And while you still get minor bug fixes and core system updates, you end up with a more mature stable and mature product.

My understanding is the 51mm version will get 2 weeks of typical use before needing to be charged (I believe with the screen not always on). Screen use and GPS use tend to be the biggest drains on a device like this, and so it's also going to depend on how often your GPS is active. Having had a venu with OLED, I really value the vibrant and bright display, and it's nice to be able to have attractive watch faces. Biggest issue I have with the Venu is after 3 years, an 8 hour hike with GPS tends to drain the battery completely.
