Regular price is way overprice if you live in a medium to big metro areas where there are Asian groceries. In many Asian groceries carrying foods from Thailand and Vietnam, this is the usual/regular price at $3.50

Great stuff. You can easily make a delicious meal using this but as already stayed, this is about the going rate at Asian stores.

Good deal. Ingredients look good for you too (no artificial ingredients, preservatives, etc). There is a ton of sodium however, be careful if you need to be on a low sodium diet.

FYI to anyone reading, this is true of a lot of SE Asian prepared food and pastes. People tend to eat less there in general vs western portions, so salt is not as big a deal.

it's when you combine these foods with a western appetite that you need to be careful.

Also yes as another poster mentioned, this is around the normal store price, but I'm assuming most people buying these items on Amazon don't have a handy Asian market, so for them it's nice

(however this is also the normal Amazon price and not a discount as you can see on the tracker) so I'm not sure why this was posted on slickdeals at all, shrug

That's about how much I'd use, for spice level 3 out of 10. Flavor is decent but it's not super spicy. It is pretty salty so if you want extra hot you'll have to add something else like chili oil.

Caucasian Thai food. I bought this a few years ago and didn't finish it. Not anything like you get at a Thai restaurant of which are thick here in CA.
Of course the paste alone is not going to give you restaurant flavor. You'd need to add fresh galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass to take it to the next level.

If I ate some, my shrimp allergy would kill me long before the hypertension does

As per https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/curr...-takeaways maesri is not great. I prefer arroy-d as it doesn't have shrimp paste (even though I like it the salt content is much lower)
