Purely anecdotal story... I bought my mother an annual gift subscription through a Black Friday sale one year and she loved it so I did the same the following year.

At the end of the second year my mother told me I didn't need to buy her anymore because she didn't feel there was anything left worth watching that she had already seen.

CS has a decent sized catalog, but it's not really expanding/growing. What you see when you join is pretty much the level it's going to stay at for the most part

I wish I would have seen this earlier this morning, before I spent $24 on another +1 year Black Friday renewal. Still debating whether to get it or not since it's such a cheap price....

Has anyone added this to an existing account?

Anyone have an opinion on this vs MagellanTV for $100? https://slickdeals.net/f/18888415-magellantv-documentary-streaming-service-lifetime-subscription-100
This very excellent video explains the reason for the "lifetime subscription" --
and the failure of Curiosity Stream in savage detail:

If $24 yearly deal offered every year, this is like paying 4 years upfront.

Content quality is not great. No spending on new content plus competition from YouTube, Nat Geo, and Discovery—Does not seem worth it.

Just to be clear, it hasn't "failed", it's just struggling more than in the past. The content is quite decent in my opinion, higher and more consistent quality than most Youtube documentaries, and without ads.

I'm super suspicious of anything lifetime from Stacksocial. I got a lifetime sub to e-learning content for IT and then the provider changed all the content to web dev and AI crap, so I had to fight for months to get a refund.

YMMV but check your spam folder if you previously had a subscription. They offered me 3 months for $.99.

I've always disliked this service because it was pushed hard by youtubers and they lump some good quality content producers with garbage, low quality content producers. Then they have the gall to claim the content is superior to YouTube because of editorial freedom and format. The political leaning ones are even worse. Pay to hear my opinion stated as if it's fact! It's all very snooty and moralizing. Good to hear it's not doing well. If you want to directly support a content maker, do it directly through patreon install.

I have added a different lifetime subscription to my account for them and have had it for years. As for the BF deal you bought, their customer service may work with you to refund it so you can apply the lifetime code. You can get in touch and check. They were flexible with me when I added the lifetime and had an existing subscription.

Good idea. I just chatted with a CSR who said they couldn't do anything themselves since the Lifetime was already applied (I ended up buying it), but they opened up a ticket with their billing team who should hopefully be able to refund me. Takes ~3 business days. Crossing my fingers!
