This bag is almost 100 liters of volume, which is plenty. With the 28", you'll most likely have an overweight bag and you'll have to pay extra fees.

Also, the large one has 65.5" linear dimensions which is technically oversized (62" limit) so you're at a risk of extra fees for that as well.

I have the 20" version and with 18lbs total weight, the wheels suck. They're just too small vs the dual wheel versions.

You had me sold until I read the reviews of the broken wheels. That's a deal breaker.

Why does Samsonite use cheap wheels instead of Hinomoto wheels and YKK zippers?

Look at Sam's Club Members Mark bags. They use hinomoto wheels, ykk zippers are not expensive. The only issue is you can't buy a checked bag separately.
